Topaz clarity studio plus#
With Studio plus the Dehaze addon, you can use the Studio easy edge-aware masking. For example, the Topaz Lens Effects plugin, which has a very nice UV Haze reducer, does not have masking, so you have to do any masking in your editor (before or after using the plugin) with whatever your image editor supplies.
Not all regular Topaz plugins have masking built-in, so in this sense the addons to Studio can be better because any of them can be masked. Yes, of course, you can do this in any reasonably powerful image editor (I use Corel PaintShop Pro), but the point I am making here is that the built-in edge-aware masking tool of Topaz Studio is much easier to use than any mask tool I have ever used, including the Topaz Remask full-blown plugin, which I don't use very often and has kind of a high learning curve, IMHO (Remask won't work in Studio because it requires layers). So, for example, I can mask the Dehaze addon I bought, to just do the dehazing on a part of the image. This is similar to what is present in the regular Detail plugin (and several others). One thing that is nice about it is that you can mask ANY adjustment tool using the very easy to use Topaz masking tool with edge awareness. I bought the Dehaze tool for $15 and it is worthwhile.
You can purchase more robust adjustment tools as add-ons to it. I already have a bunch of Topaz regular plugins and it is OK for "hosting" them, although it works more smoothly with the basic adjustments tools that it comes with. I have been trying out Topaz Studio for the past few days and like it pretty well.
